Waterproofing
Concrete to be treated with Waterproof compound must be clean and have an “open” capillary system. Apply “Mapei Multipurpose Primer” or equivalent. Priming ensures better adhesion of waterproof to the surface. It also removes fine dust and particle. Mixed thoroughly “Boscolastic Compound A & B” and apply it using trowel on designated area/surfaces. Let it cure before proceed to the next process.
Self-leveling
Next, you want to make sure the surface is smooth and level. This means all cracks and imperfections in the floor must be sanded or filled in before tile floor installation can proceed. Apply “Mapei Multipurpose Primer” or equivalent, this improves adhesion and bond strength of self-levelers to the subfloor to prepare for the floor installation. Mixed thoroughly “Ardex CL-11 compound” or equivalent. Pour the mixed compound from inner edge of room/area. Use gauge rake/levelling trowel to spread the compound. The finishing is then done by lightly breaking the surface tension of the product using a tool called a smoother or spiked roller. Let it cure.
Sanding, Cleaning and Vacuum
No matter what type of surface you tile over, it must be thoroughly cleaned. Remove all equipment/furniture in the area and make sure the surface is free of all dust, loose particles, and any other foreign material that could affect the installation. Once self-levelling cured/dry, the surfaces/ subfloor need to be sanded with rough sandpaper to improve the bonding.
